Course Description

An introductory-level course covering the basics of Local and Wide Area Networking. Discusses the OSI model, TCP/IP, Ethernet, media architecture, and networking hardware. Also covers basic Wireless concepts, DNS, the Internet as well as how to troubleshoot common network problems.

Skills-based assessment proficient score, assessment administered by the Computer Information Systems department faculty. Faculty will assess skills-based assessment based on evaluation rubric. Assessment information located in Department Office. Students must also complete a departmental exam and have proper licensure/certification.

CompTia Network+ Certification OR TestOut Network Pro Certification must be current. Department faculty will verify certification(s). Verified certifications, and the Credit for Prior College-Level Learning application will be signed, copied, and retained in the Department Office. Students must also complete a departmental exam and a skilled demonstration.
