Catalog Course Description

A basic course in architectural drawing in which the student studies architectural freehand sketching, elevation and plan rendering techniques, shade, shadow and perspective drawing methods used in architectural renderings. The student also becomes acquainted with the use of various manual and electronic drawing media and color.

  1. • Shade and shadow principles
  2. • Sketching entourage
  3. • Presentation principles
  4. • Rendering with felt-tipped pens and art markers
  5. • Rendering with colored pencils / pastels
  6. • Multimedia rendering (i.e., combining several media including manual and electronic)
  7. • Incorporate the above elements in several projects, including, but not limited to: o Building Elevations and Sections o Perspective o Site Plans and Floor Plans

Assessment is based on performance of periodic lab projects. All assessment of student achievement is left to the discretion of the individual instructor.
