Catalog Course Description

Emphasizes the application of the theories of linear perspective introduced in ART 102. Discusses how theories are used to create three dimensional illusion through the use of the system of linear perspective.

Goals, Topics, and Objectives

Goal Statement

Students will expand and then apply the theories of linear perspective touched on in courses prerequisite Drawing I (ART 102). This course would apply perspective theory in all of their work.

Core Course Topics
  1. One point linear perspective.
  2. Two point linear perspective.
  3. Methods of measurement in linear perspective.
  4. Scale and plane division in linear perspective.
  5. Shadow projection in linear perspective.
  6. Three point linear perspective.
  7. Additive and subtractive linear perspective.
Core Course Learning Objectives (Separated)
  • Demonstrate construction of common place objects in perspective
  • Illustrate development of circular objects
  • Employ the system of casting shadows
  • Show the results of a perspective drawing that employs multiple vanishing point systems
  • Construct objects with inclined planes using vanishing points
  • Construct common place objects in linear perspective
  • Place imaginary objects in an imaginary space and project accurate shadow/shadows.
  • Construct an object to scale in an existing scene*
  • Use linear measurement in a system of accelerated distance (linear perspective)
  • Design objects that with inclined planes using vanishing points.
