A capstone class for graduating Studio Art majors to be taken during their final semester that includes portfolio and Exit Exhibition preparation and implementation.

Goals, Topics, and Objectives

Goal Statement

This is a capstone class for all Studio Art majors. The class will emphasize putting together a portfolio of one’s work, writing an artist statement, as well as preparation and hanging of their portion of the Art and Design Students’ Graduating Exit Exhibition.

Core Course Topics
  1. Preparing one’s portfolio
    • Select work that should be included in a professional portfolio.
  2. Photographing artwork
    • Photograph art work for inclusion in a professional portfolio.
  3. Exit Exhibition preparation
    • Evaluate one’s art work for inclusion in Exit Exhibition.
  4. Mat cutting
    • Measure and cut mats for any two dimensional pieces that require mats.
  5. Public relations
    • Design a PR card and/or flier for Exit Exhibition.
  6. Artist statement
    • Write an artist statement about one’s own work.
  7. Exit Exhibition
    • Organize and hang Exit Exhibition.
