Emphasizes punctuation that is commonly applied to documents constructed or edited in the business environment. Covers business grammar and parts of speech in proper context.

  1. Parts of Speech

    a. Define the parts of speech. b. Define subjects and verbs. c. Define clauses: dependent clause vs. independent clause.

  2. Punctuation Rules

    a. Apply the rules for commas, semicolons, colons, hyphens, dashes, quotation marks, and apostrophes in business documents.

  3. Sentence Errors

    a. Identify construction errors such as fragments or run-ons
    b. Apply the decision-making process to correct errors in sentence context.

  4. Bullets and Numbered Lists

    a. Compare the use of paragraphs, bullets, and numbered lists to add clarity, allow scanning, draw attention.

  5. Number Usage

    a. Apply the rules for writing numbers and ordinals in business documents.

  6. Coordinate Adjective and Compound Adjectives Agreement

    a. Apply the rules for punctuating coordinate adjectives and compound adjectives. Contrast the diferrence of using one vs. the other.
