Teaches touch keyboarding skills. Covers the alpha, number, and symbol keys; terminology; and basic formatting. Emphasizes accuracy and speed as the semester progresses.

    1. Operate the computer keyboard.
  2. Proper Typing Techniques.
    1. Employ proper typing techniques.
  3. Spacing and Punctuation.
    1. Apply standard formatting rules with proper punctuation.
  4. Basic Proofreaders' Marks.
    1. Identify basic proofreaders' marks.
  5. Formatting of Business Documents.
    1. Prepare one-page business documents (reports, letters, and memorandums).*
  6. Speed and Accuracy.
    1. Type 25 words per minute for three minutes with four or fewer errors.
  7. E-mail.
    1. Format and type an e-mail.
