Discusses how to get the most out of one’s work environment. Covers how to apply for a job, ask for a raise and negotiate salary. Examines how to apply assertiveness training techniques to handle both criticism from colleagues and a performance review from a supervisor.

- Passiveness, aggressiveness, and passive-aggressiveness.
- Define passiveness, aggressiveness, and passive-aggressiveness.
- Explain how these behaviors negatively impact communication, resulting in weak employee performance.
- Role model each of these weak communication behavior patterns.
- Assertive behavior in typical work situations.
- Incorporate the following assertive techniques while role playing as an employee: fogging, asking, broken record, compromise and anger management.
- Analyze workplace interactions between employees, the employer and employee, as well as the employee and the public, to determine what assertive techniques can be best utilized to improve the situation.
