Introduces the use of drafting instruments, lettering technique, geometric construction, orthographic projection, pictorial drawing, basic dimensioning for manufacturing, sectioning, auxiliaries, an introduction to assembly drawings, print reading, and interpretation of drawings.

Core Course Learning Objectives (Separated)
- Measure a linear distance using a scale graduated in fractional inches, decimal inches and millimeters.
- Accurately construct lines, circles, and arcs in specific relationship with each other with the use of a compass, triangles, and templates.
- Draw and apply the various line types used on a mechanical drawing with the use of a compass, triangles, and templates.
- Freehand letter dimensions and notes using conventional Gothic style.
- Construct orthographic views from a given isometric drawing.
- Solve for missing views in an orthographic arrange of views.
- Create an auxiliary view using the reference line method.
- Construct a half and full section view.
- Identify and know the nomanclature of external and internal screw threads.
- Apply basic dimensioning skills in dimensioning a part drawing for the purpose of manufacturing.
Assessment and Requirements
Assessment of Academic Achievement
All students will be required to complete a set of competencies measured through drawings, tests, written assignments, and achieving a cumulative average of 60% or above.
