Explores mental health theories used when working with clients and provides the students with the opportunity to practice these theories at a field experience. Course is comprised of two parts: theory and field experience. The theoretical portion will focus on group dynamics as used in the treatment modalities of the mental health fields, education, and social work fields. The in-class portion of this course will consist of 45 hours of instruction. Field experience will provide students the opportunity to learn at a cooperating mental health agency, under the guidance of a licensed professional, for 135 clock hours of off-campus learning.

Assessment and Requirements
Assessment of academic achievement may include, but not be limited to case studies, field experience reports, quizzes, research projects, research papers, group assignments, or final exam.
Students must have a cleared criminal background check within the last year.
