Catalog Course Description

This course is for singers of all ages and interests. Covers basic singing techniques including breath control, diction, posture, and tone quality; instruction takes place in a classroom setting. Techniques are applied to a variety of songs.

Goal Statement

This course includes the development of singing skills. The class voice approach will challenge the individual student to develop his/her singing ability to its highest level.

  • Demonstrate good singing posture
  • Demonstrate a proper warm up procedure, involving stretching, breathing, and vocalizing techniques
  • Sing "The Star Spangled Banner " accurately, from memory
  • Sing one Italian art song accurately, from memory
  • Sing one popular song accurately, from memory
  • Demonstrate good breath control, diction, tone quality, and ease of confidence in solo performance before classmates
