Combines the study of musical skills and techniques involved in a staged musical production with performance activity in a major production and/or the classroom.

Goals, Topics, and Objectives

Goal Statement

The dominant focus of attention of musical production will be on live performances by the class members in a musical production open to the public.

  2. Implementation of skills and techniques
    • In a major musical production and/or in a solo selection and participation in one ensemble within the class.
Core Course Learning Objectives (Separated)
  • Perform all chorus selections of the current musical theatre production.
  • Perform all solo/ensemble selections assigned.
  • Produce a variety of vocal tones for delivery of lines and songs.
  • *Perform in synchronization with other musicians, with and without a conductor.
  • Demonstrate ability to coordinate stage direction movement ("blocking") with singing and delivering lines.
  • Demonstrate make-up technique and costume preparation appropriate to role.
  • Demonstrate appropriate stage presence during public performances.
  • Demonstrate ability to stay in character during public performances.
  • Demonstrate improved tone, technique, musicianship, and ease of confidence in public performances.
