Catalog Course Description

As the capstone for the Recording Arts Certificate program, course provides special study in audio recording and is intended for students completing the Certificate program. Students choose the topic for study and design an instructional plan under the guidance and approval of instructor. Must complete a major project that demonstrates skills and knowledge learned in the program, and project is presented at the end of the semester.

Goal Statement

This course will provide students in the Recording Arts Certificate program with the opportunity to explore in depth, the topics and skills related to digital audio recording based upon their interests.

Core Course Topics
  1. The project will be developed by each student under the guidance and approval of the instructor. Topics must relate to the application of digital recording knowledge and skills gained through participation in the Recording Arts Certificate program.

Core Course Learning Objectives (Separated)
  1. Identify and describe a project specific to their interest in the recording field that includes a minimum of three skill sets learned in the Recording Arts Certificate program.*
  2. Demonstrate organizational skills related to the recording process by creating an instructional proposal for the identified project.*
  3. Identify and assemble the necessary elements to complete their project including but not limited to: equipment, performers, space, time, and permissions.*
  4. Anticipate problems that may be encountered during the project and select the appropriate solutions to those problems.*
  5. Demonstrate the ability to work independently by completing the project according to the described instructional plan.
  6. Evaluate the project by identifying successes and failures encountered during the project.*
  7. Express the technical aspects of a recording project by presenting the evaluation to the class.*
