Emphasizes critical thinking to facilitate application of psychiatric nursing theory to clinical practice. NOTE: Students who register for NSG 082 must also register for NSG 150 at the same time. Both are 8-week courses. One hour of lecture per week.

1. Apply legal and ethical principles necessary for collaborative care with the mental health patient and family.
2. Apply Health promotion/Illness management factors that affect self-care abilities in specific mental health conditions.
3. Discuss mental health clinical scenarios in study groups that assist self and group learning.
4. Apply critical thinking to mental health nursing theory for specific clinical scenarios.*
5. Enhance tests taking skills in preparation for NCLEX-RN examination.

Assessment and Requirements
Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory. To receive a satisfactory grade, students must attend a minimum of 80% of the classes, participate in class discussions, complete assigned course work.
