Emphasizes the use of critical thinking to enhance understanding of medical-surgical nursing theory to clinical practice. NOTE: Students who register for NSG 088 must also register for NSG 222 at he same time. Both are 8-week courses. One hour of contact per week.

1. Apply legal and ethical principles necessary for the collaborative care for adults with common medical-surgical health problems of eye, ear, muscloskeletal, gastrointestinal, and reproductive.
2. Apply health promotion/illness management factors that affect self-care abilities in specific medical-surgical disease conditions.
3. Discuss medical surgical clinical scenarios in study groups that assist self and group learning.
4. Apply critical thinking to medical-surgical nursing theory for specific clinical scenarios.*
5. Enhance test taking skills in preparation for NCLEX-RN examination.
