Explores selected legal topics with emphasis on current legal trends. Specific special topic will be announced each term the course is offered. Course may be repeated when different topics are offered and a student may earn credit for each different topic. Course may be used toward fulfilling the specific degree requirements for an associate degree.
Goals, Topics, and Objectives
1. Discuss the substantive law of the specific legal topic.
2. Perform research on the specific legal topic using computer-assisted research tools.*
3. Evaluate the ethical considerations regarding the role of the paralegal in this subject area of law.
Assessment and Requirements
Students will be assessed through quizzes, tests, in-class and out-of-class assignments, drafting assignments, and/or class participation.
A detailed course syllabus for each section of PLGL 299 must be approved by the Business and Computer Technology Division prior to the course being offered. The syllabus will be presented to the College Council by the Associate Dean of the Business and Computer Technology Division "for information only."
