Integrates classroom and clinical experiences in order to review and reinforce clinical skills, medical terminology, and effective communication skills.

  1. Identify the role of PTA’s future in health care.
  2. Compose a cover letter.
  3. Write a formal resume.
  4. Write a job description for Physical Therapist Assistant.
  5. Identify characteristics of a good job interview.
  6. Explain the role of various persons in a typical physical therapy setting.
  7. Analyze current reimbursement issues in physical therapy.
  8. Discuss basic principles of management in a physical therapy setting, including policy and procedures, meetings, budget, and quality assurance.
  9. Complete two pre-licensure practice tests in preparation of the national PTA licensure exam.

Assessment and Requirements

Assessment of Academic Achievement

The assessment standards will consist of discussions, group activities, completion of two PEAT exams, and written assignments.

General Course Requirements and Recommendations

Students must pass this course with a “C” or better to remain in the PTA Program. They must complete all assignments as listed above in order to pass this course. Instructors (or their designee) reserve the right to require students to provide picture identification for test taking, graded papers or projects, or other appropriate purposes.
