Provide the skilled trades community the opportunity to receive advanced specialized training and education in specific topics and concepts identified as relative to current maintenance issues. The precise topic or topics will be offered as identified by the Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship Department faculty, ST&AD Steering Committee, employers with students enrolled in the ST&AD program, and/or other employers or individuals who have recognized a need for training. Learners may repeat the course for credit when different topics are offered.
Goals, Topics, and Objectives
- To be identified by the instructor
- All courses offered will have course objectives developed by the instructor as well as the following:
- Describe the safe work practices related to the core topics and identify at least one critical safety awareness issue related to the core topic*
- Solve at least one shop mathematics problem related to the core topic*
- Provide a written item that discusses the relevance of the core topic as it relates to the learners skilled trade or occupation*
Assessment and Requirements
The instructor will develop the assessment process including the three Major Core Course Objectives as stated above relating to the core topic.
- Identify one critical safety awareness issue
- Solve at least one shop related mathematics problem
- Provide a written item relating the core topic to the learner's occupation

Texts, handouts, and/or workbooks will be determined by the Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship Department with approval by the Division.
