Presents a comprehensive approach to safety designed to give the process technician the knowledge of safety fundamentals and practices, from the causes of accidents to the study of safety hazards and rules associated with equipment and tools utilized in modern industrial facilities. Successful completers will be issued the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-Hour card for General Industry and a completion card in Workplace First Aid, Blood-Borne Disease Transmission, Adult Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Adult Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING AN OSHA 30-HOUR GENERAL INDUSTRY OUTREACH TRAINING COURSE COMPLETION CARD.
To be eligible to receive an OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Outreach Training Course Completion Card, students must meet each of the following requirements:
1 - The course Instructor must be authorized by OSHA to conduct the 30-Hour General Industry Outreach Training Program.
2 - Students must complete all assigned worksheets and review sheets or the course.
3 - Students must have no absences for the OSHA portion of class presentation.
Upon successful completion of the above requirements, the necessary paperwork will be filed for the student to receive an OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Outreach Training Program Course Completion Card issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
All students must successfully complete the practical portions regarding First Aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, and use of Automated External Defibrillators in order to receive certification cards.
Texts, handouts, and/or workbooks will be determined by the TAE Department.

Credit for Prior College-Level Learning
Students who have successfully completed the requirements for the TAFD 120 - Industrial Safety Awareness must successfully complete a 15-contact hour "Safety Awareness and Emergency Preparedness" (yet to be developed) seminar to receive credit for this course.
