Catalog Course Description

Focuses on the mastery of tool-design principles as applied to the industrial workplace. Covers tolerances, fits, principles of tool design, template jigs and fixtures, plate and channel jigs, and materials joining fixtures. Discusses economical design principles and the teamwork approach to various projects.

  1. Tolerances and fits.
  2. Standard parts and bill of material.
  3. Supporting and locating principles.
  4. Workholding and tool construction principles.
  5. Template jigs for drilling.
  6. Template jigs for other operations.
  7. Template jigs for milling.
  8. Plate jigs and fixtures.
  9. Angle plate fixtures.
  10. Channel jig.
  11. Box jigs.
  12. Vice jigs and fixtures.
  13. Vice jigs and fixtures.
  14. Materials joining fixtures.

  • Utilize manual and computer assisted drawings to make tool drawings.
  • Solve actual shop problems using team problem solving techniques on several projects.*

  • Assessment and Requirements

    Assessment of Academic Achievement

    All students will be required to complete a comprehensive final examination that assesses the learning of all course objectives  This exam must be weighted in a manner so that the exam score is worth a minimum of fifteen percent of the final course grade.  This exam is to be a common exam administered to all sections of TAGD 150.

    General Course Requirements and Recommendations

    The student will be required to bring the drafting equipment used in previous  drafting courses.
