Discusses how to properly select materials for the installation and repair of sewer, soil, waste, and vent systems. Covers proper procedures for the design and layout of residential and commercial systems, and the use of blueprints and isometric diagrams.

Core Course Topics
- Safety protocols and introduction to plumbing principles.
- Plumbing blueprint reading, symbology, and application of isometrics.
- Using blueprints and cross connections - definition and applications.
- Plumbing materials used in residential and commercial applications, special fittings, and specific materials restrictions as per codes.
- Specialty plumbing tools for installation of no-hub, cast-iron, and flexible plumbing.
- Introduction to gas piping in buildings, materials and safety applications, sizing procedures for gas branches and mains.
- Applications - gas mains and branches.
- Calculations for the sizing of storm and sanity drains.
- Joining and installation procedures for drains and sizing procedures for roof and parking lot drains.
- Plumbing fixtures, application and installation procedures, plumbing traps, and types and restrictions.
- Calculations for the sizing of water supply piping.
- Specialty fixtures, water fountains, slop sinks, hot water heaters, and installation procedures for specialty fixtures.
- Testing, inspecting of plumbing systems, and principles of rough and finish plumbing.

Assessment of Academic Achievement
All students will be required to complete a comprehensive final examination that assesses the learning of all course objectives. This exam must be weighted in a manner so that this exam score is worth a minimum of fifteen percent of the final course grade. This exam is to be a common exam administered to all sections of TAPP 110.
