Catalog Course Description

Explores basic theatrical fencing, broadsword fighting, falling, and hand-to-hand combat, based on an awareness of the roles of stage combat in the theatre of past and present.

    Analyze the functions of stage combat in a classical play.
    Describe the historical significance of stage combat.

  2. Contemporary Stage Combat

    Analyze the functions of stage combat in modern plays.

  3. Safety Techniques

    Describe the basic requirements for safe stage combat practices.

  4. Using Stage Combat Techniques in a Play

    Identify the various styles of stage combat.
    Identify the major components of stage combat for a variety of styles.
    Organize and prepare a theatrical scene using 4 types of stage combat.

  5. Use of Various Weapons

    Write a weapons plot for a 3 act play.
