Catalog Course Description

An audition monologue preparation course that focuses on contemporary realism, and also includes classical work. Students create preparation processes, resumes, and practice audition interviews. Advanced acting technique exercises are practiced to develop convincing character and staging.

Goals, Topics, and Objectives

Core Course Topics
  1. Audition styles

    Identify the various types and styles of theatrical auditions.

  2. Audition strategies

    Write a strategy list for various auditions.

  3. Local theatre conditions and strategies

    Identify appropriate behavior at auditions.

  4. Auditioning at local theatres

    Describe the audition conditions and requirements of at least four (4) area theatres.
    Audition at six (6) local theatres.
    Report on audition experiences to classmates and instructor.
