Catalog Course Description

Introduces memory and project organization within a PLC processor, the installation, wiring and configuration of I/O modules, as well as how to start a new project.

Goal Statement

To provide students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of PLC Hardware and Software, utilizing digital learning materials and hands-on labs.

  2. PLC Program Elements, Memory Allocation and Address Types and Formats
  3. Input/Output (I/O) Addressing
  4. I/O Configuration
Core Course Learning Objectives (Separated)

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Establish communication between the PLC and laptop computer.
2. Upload, download, and edit PLC programs.*
3. Add an input and output module to the I/O chassis by hand.
4. Configure new I/O in RSLogix 5000.
