Offers successful strategies to fight job interview anxiety. Presents creative measures to secure an interview, how to dress appropriately for the interview, how to field questions, what to ask the interviewer and post-interview follow-up. Resume required.

Goals, Topics, and Objectives

Core Course Topics
  1. What is the assertive interview process?
    • Explain the ten step process of interviewing for a job that begins before an interview and lasts after the interview has been completed.
    • Analyze job interview behavior to determine what is effective or ineffective.
    • Explain how an assertive job applicant can control the interview process.
    • Create an interview checklist to be used as a flow chart while applying for work.
  2. Successful interview behavior.
    • Experience, through role playing, successful interview techniques based upon an assertive approach.
    • Understand the role of technology in the interview process.
  3. Strategies to fight anxiety while interviewing.
    • Experience stress releasing strategies and exercises to control interview stress.

Assessment of student learning may include, but not be limited to, writing assignments, special research reports, interviews, and role playing a "mock' job interview.
