Catalog Course Description

This advanced production management course offers theoretical grounding and practical experience in a design, assistant directing, stage management, and publicity management position, plus concurrent assignments in a live production environment.

  1. Pre-production assignments.
  2. Development of theoretical grounding through research, reading, viewing, meeting, and project development.
  3. Ensembly and team leadership development.
  4. Proper paperwork development.

  1. Utilize pre-production skills by being a team leader and integral member of the production staff, with a specific set of individual responsibilities.
  2. Utilize advanced skills and theoretical grounding in one aspect of production management, by having an advanced assignment for live production.*
  3. Utilize ensembly skills by being a production team leader and ensemble member.*
  4. Display skills in production management areas.*
  5. Create and implement performance production assignment.*
General Information

A new course in Theatre experience replaces this course.

Assessment and Requirements

Assessment of Academic Achievement
  1. Student will receive group feedback in production meetings with various faculty and fellow students.
  2. Student will receive individual feedback in private and semi-private conferences with faculty.  In these, students will be required to display evidence of understanding and development of production practices.
  3. Student will submit production project paperwork several times during the semester for review and revision to develop their organizational and management skills with living documents.
  4. Student will engage in live production of multiple performances of a theatrical event (as well as possible music and dance event) with a production assignment that will give them performance production experience; after each performance notes will be given and discussion of pertinent issues will occur to further inform the student of proper procedures.
