Catalog Course Description

Examines the processes, techniques, and principles involved in lighting the stage, studio, and location.  Discusses the properties and uses of light, color media, and stage lighting equipment. Also offers the opportunity to participate in the stage lighting of an HFC theatre production.

  1. Physics of Light.

    Describe the physical properties of light.

  2. Physics of Color.

    Describe the physical properties of color and color combination for light.

  3. Mechanics of Lighting Instruments.

    Identify the types and parts of major lighting instruments.

  4. Using Accessories, Equipment, Materials, and Supplies.

    Demonstrate the application of accessories, equipment, materials, and supplies.

  5. Lighting Plots.

    Construct a light plot. Read a light plot.

  6. Gels, Hanging, and Focusing.

    Hang, focus, and gel from a light plot.

  7. Lighting Board

    Program a computerized board in basic cues.
