Program Description

Description

Prepares students interested in becoming pharmacists for transfer to a 4-year institution. Provides students with a solid foundation using a set of carefully selected courses, which will maximize the transfer of course work. Courses were selected to include the general admission criteria used by pharmacy schools and formal transfer agreements HFC maintains with other institutions. Pre-Pharmacy students are strongly encouraged to work closely with the Pre-Pharmacy advisor before selecting their courses.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:

  1. Incorporate principles of general and organic chemistry to apply concepts.
  2. Differentiate between algebraic and trigonometric concepts.
  3. Communicate personal abilities to write effectively.
  4. Apply biological concepts and principals in the analysis of biological processes.
  5. Interpret written forms of communication.
  6. Demonstrate interpersonal communication skills.

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements and Eligibility

Students should meet with the Pre-Pharmacy advisor on a regular basis to select the correct courses, their sequence and review the desired transfer institution requirements.

General Education

Category 1: English Composition
ENG-131, or ENG-131H, or ENG-132, or ENG-132H
Category 2: English Composition or Communications
SPC-131, or ENG-132 or ENG-132H
Category 3: Mathematics
Take any MATH from the MTA Algebra or Statistics track
Category 4: Social Sciences
POLS-131 and SOC-131
Category 5: Humanities and Fine Arts
Complete any two, from different disciplines, from the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) list.
