Explores mental health theories used when working with clients and provides the students with the opportunity to practice these theories at a field experience. Course is comprised of two parts: theory and field experience. The theoretical portion will focus on group dynamics as used in the treatment modalities of the mental health fields, education, and social work fields. The in-class portion of this course will consist of 45 hours of instruction. Field experience will provide students the opportunity to learn at a cooperating mental health agency, under the guidance of a licensed professional, for 135 clock hours of off-campus learning.
