Program Info
Program Description
The Pre-Engineering: Mechanical/Industrial program enables students to complete the courses in the first two and half years of the Bachelor of Science program in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering at University of Michigan - Dearborn. Students take physics, math, chemistry, general education, and program specific courses required by the engineering program. Upon successful completion of the program, students can transfer to University of Michigan - Dearborn to complete their final years of engineering. The HFC articulation agreement with University of Michigan - Dearborn makes the transfer process easier. Some ENGR courses transfer to Wayne State University as well.
NOTE: Students should meet with the Engineering Faculty Advisor for assistance with registering for the correct series of courses.
- Describe the introductory concepts of physical sciences (chemistry and physics).
- Demonstrate the ability to work in teams to solve engineering and math problems.
- Define the roles of mechanical /industrial engineers and decide his/her pathway.
After completion of this program and transfer to and completion of the a 4-year institution Bachelor of Science degree, students can specialize in fields such as Mechanical, Industrial, Systems or Manufacturing Engineering.
Admission Requirements
Successful completion of ENGR-130 or permission from the Chair of the Pre-Engineering Department.
