Program Description

Description

Provides students with experience on the production and maintenance of precision tools commonly used in the production of metal, plastic, and other materials of all shapes and sizes. Toolmakers must interpret drawings and technical data to create various parts for manufacturing.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:

  1. Accurately measure and perform calculations.
  2. Interpret engineering drawings to plan the production of a given part or product in accordance with manufacturers specifications.
  3. Operate a range of milling and boring machinery, lathes, and CNC equipment in the manufacture of parts and products based on the drawings specified.
  4. Accurately assemble manufactured parts and finished components.
  5. Use hand and power tools.
  6. Test finished products for accuracy in accordance with specified drawings.
  7. Implement health and safety practices in the workplace.
  8. Operate manufacturing machinery and measuring equipment.
