Course Description
ENG-131A is the first college-level composition course in a two-semester sequence. Students will be introduced to writing, reading, critical thinking, and using information at the college level. In particular, the course will help students develop writing that reveals rhetorical and academic flexibility.
Pre-requisites
Students place into ENG-131A through multiple-measures assessment as determined by English Department guidelines. Students who were required to take developmental coursework before ENG-131A may also enroll in 131A by passing ENG-081 and 093 with a grade of S, 090A with a grade of S, or 082 and 092 with a C or better.
Students may appeal placement by scheduling an appointment with the Writing Center for an impromptu, final writing placement assessment.
