Catalog Course Description

Explores mental health theories used when working with clients and provides the students with the opportunity to practice these theories in a simulated environment. The course will focus on group dynamics as used in the treatment modalities of the mental health fields, education, and social work fields.

Core Course Topics
  1. Counseling group dynamics theories
    • Explain the various types of group dynamics theories.
    • Explain the ethical and professional guidelines for group leaders.
  2. Counseling group dynamics techniques
    • Apply the various types of group dynamics techniques.
    • Co-lead a group therapy model in class.
