Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Develop an understanding of the background and origins of digital based media.
Develop an understanding of digital media as used in contemporary art.
Utilize of both vector based and raster based imaging software in making art.
Develop a time based media piece as a work of digital media based art.
Build a work of art using a variety of digital media platforms.
Develop a sense of the vocabulary that is commonly used within digital media based art.
Analyze and critique one's own digital media projects, as well as those of classmates, and to speak knowledgeably about the works of well known artists within the genre. operate basic computer hardware, including common input, output, and storage devices.
Log in and out of the HFC network, utilize WebAdvisor, perform basic tasks such as finding, saving, copying and printing files, sending and receiving email with and without attachments.
Demonstrate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications by creating, formatting, and configuring documents.
Demonstrate utilization of the WWW including use of a browser for internet access, use of search engines, and evaluation of credibility and quality of WWW sites.
Communicate professionally in an online environment as well as demonstrate proper ethical and legal behavior in online community as well as understand common threats to computer security and privacy such as plagiarism, viruses, phishing and identity theft.
