Academic Literacies
Course Description
This course helps students develop their academic literacies in conjunction with college-level reading and writing in other courses. Course work will help students refine their reading and writing practices by asking them to think about how these skills work together in college and beyond. Course work will help students develop confidence as they learn how to meet the demands of reading and writing in diverse contexts.
Course Pre-requisite(s)
Students place into course through guided self-placement and/or through multiple-measures assessment as determined by English Department guidelines. Students may appeal placement by scheduling an appointment with the Writing Center for an impromptu writing assessment.
Course Co-requisite(s)
Any course that meets the College's Social Sciences or Humanities General Education Requirements (MTA). Please check with an advisor for the full list (advising@hfcc.edu), or request it from the School of Liberal Arts (lainfo@hfcc.edu) This is a mandatory co-requisite; students must remain enrolled in both sections.
