Course Goals

course is designed to teach beginner and intermediate volleyball skills while covering historic highlights as well as providing exposure to game strategy.

Core Course Topics

  1. Cardiovascular training, flexibility, strength training and nutrition as it pertains to disease prevention and weight management.

  2. Player positions and strategy.

  3. Proper techniques-passing, setting,serving, spiking, setting and court management.

  4. Rules and etiquette.

  5. Terminology.

  6. History of the game.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate proper volleyball skills: passing, setting, court management, spiking and serving, and strategy.

Explain the basic volleyball terminology and the history of its evolution.

Demonstrate an awareness of healthy eating habits and training as it relates to disease prevention and weight management.

List player positions and how positions interrelate.

Assess fitness levels and demonstrate proper training techniques.

Describe the general history of the games’ evolution.
