Course Goals

To help students learn and use the skills of Yoga to improve overall physical fitness, health, mental discipline, and self-awareness.

Core Course Topics

  1. Breath and postures.

  2. Skeletal-muscular anatomy.

  3. Stress management.

  4. Nutrition

  5. Disease, and injury prevention and care.

  6. Yoga philosophies.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Identify the postures and explain their benefits with breath control.

Identify basic skeletal-muscular anatomy and explain their functions as they apply to Yoga.

Analyze current health and make positive changes for overall body care, control and awareness to manage stress.

Analyze current diet and make positive changes for a healthy diet.

Analyze current health and fitness and make positive changes and choices for disease and injury prevention.

Apply basic Yoga philosophies including non-judgmental attitudes toward self and others and non-reactivity.
