Algebraic Expressions and Linear Equations
Use the order of operations.
Apply the distributive property.
Simplify algebraic expressions by distributing and combining like terms.
Translate sentences into linear equations.
Evaluate formulas with values given for some of the variables.
Verify a solution to an equation.
Solve one-step linear equations.
Solve two-step linear equations.
Solve a formula for one of its variables.
Graphing Linear Equations
Plot points in the Cartesian coordinate system.
Graph a linear equation by finding and plotting ordered pairs of solutions.
Identify the x- and y-intercepts of a graph.
Find the x- and y-intercepts of a line algebraically.
Graph a linear equation by finding and plotting intercepts.
Use slopes to determine whether two lines are parallel, perpendicular, or neither.
Find equations of lines given a point and the slope, two-points, or a graph.
Find the equation of a horizontal or vertical line given conditions on that line.
Polynomial Functions and Exponents
Evaluate exponential expressions.
Simplify exponential expressions using the laws of exponents.
Determine whether a polynomial is a monomial, binomial, or trinomial.
Determine the degree and coefficient of a term and determine the degree of a polynomial.
Evaluate polynomials.
Simplify polynomial expressions.
