Program Description

Associate of Science Degree in Public Health is designed to provide students the tools in preparation for a variety of entry-level public health positions in community service, health-related, recreation, and public health facilities. This program is designed to be able to transfer toward a bachelor’s degree in health education, health administration, environmental health, or a related field.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:

  1. Promote health, wellness and resources for the effective functioning of an individual, family, group and community.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of the many facets of individual and community health including risk factors, substance use, equity, attitudes, and behaviors and their impact on the variety of delivery systems.
  3. Use appropriate data and statistics to make decisions regarding strategies improving public health services.

Assessment will be using test, quizzes, assignments and projects in a variety of courses.

There are no specific admission requirements for acceptance into the Public Health program. When you apply to the college, choose Public Health as your course of study.

Complete any two, from different disciplines, from the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) list.
Category 6: Natural Sciences
Complete any one, not BIO (recommend CHEM-131 or CHEM-141), from the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) list.
