Program Description

Description

Enables students to become knowledgeable in basic mechanical engineering pathway by practicing engineering design process, various engineering computation tools (Excel, MATLAB, and Python), and structural design concepts. Course works include engineering classes in the first two years of a mechanical engineering or a mechanical engineering technology program.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:

  1. Develop knowledge of career opportunities and demonstrate the requisite entry level of a mechanical engineering assistant.
  2. Utilize engineering design process in search for solutions to real-world engineering problems.
  3. Work in teams to formulate a complex engineering problem into a system of mathematical equations and use computational tools to find solutions.
  4. Explain basic concepts and principles of statics with applications to Newton's Laws of Motion to engineering problems.

Requirements are subject to change. The information represented here is effective starting Fall 2023 and applies to the current catalog year. If you were admitted prior to this year, please check your requirements under the My Progress section of HFC Self Service.
