Assessment of Academic Achievement
Assessment of academic achievement will include weekly clinical journals, midterm evaluation, externship experience checklist, and adherence to student contract and mock CMA exam.
General Course Requirements and Recommendations
The program needs to ensure that the externship experience and instruction of students are meaningful and parallel in content and concept with materials presented in lecture and laboratory sessions. Clinical externship sites should be selected so that each student is afforded a variety of experiences, while at the same time all students are provided consistent learning opportunities.
Accreditation standards require that students do not receive compensation/payment, monetary or otherwise, from any clinical site for any portion of their clinical externship. A supervised, unpaid externship at an ambulatory health care setting performing administrative and clinical procedures must be completed prior to graduation.
