Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Perform clerical functions including scheduling appointments, referrals, and organizing medical records.
Perform bookkeeping procedures including accounts receivable and accounts payable procedures.
Perform fundamental procedures including handwashing, standard precautions, disposal of biohazardous materials, and sterilization techniques.
Perform electrocardiography, respiratory tests and CLIA Waived tests.
Perform in-person and telephone triage.
Record vital signs.
Administer oral and parenteral (excluding IV) medications.
Perform within the legal scope of practice for the medical assistant.
Demonstrate knowledge and role of the medical assistant in emergency preparedness.
