Degree Specific Graduation Requirements

The following are Degree Specific Graduation Requirements for Henry Ford College degrees; not all categories are required for every degree. Many programs have required courses that fulfill these categories. However, some programs give students the choice to select courses from the below categories. Students should check their program of study prior to selecting any classes, and are encouraged to work with HFC's Academic Advisors or Counselors to craft an educational plan.

Career Education Degree Requirements

HFC requires students pursuing an Associate in General Studies (AGS) degree to complete at least one career education course from the following subjects:

  • Business and Computer Technology: Accounting (BAC); Business Administration (BBA); Business Cooperative Education (BCO); Business Law (BLW); Business Math (BMA); Business Computer Application (BCA); Economics (BEC); Finance and Investing (BFN); Computer Information Systems (CIS); Computer Networking (CNT); Hospitality (HOSP); Management (MGT); Paralegal (PLGL)
  • Health Sciences: Allied Health (AH); Health Care (HCS); Emergency Medical Services (EMT); Health Information Technology (HIT); Medical Office Assistant (MOA); Nursing (NSG); Ophthalmic Technician (OPT); Pharmacy Technician (PHT); Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA); Radiography (RAD); Respiratory Therapy (RTH); Surgical Technology (SRG)

  • Computer Technology Degree Requirements

    HFC requires all students pursuing an Associates degree to complete at least one course that fulfills the Computer Technology Institutional outcome. The courses, given below, are designed to produce graduates that meet the following outcome:

    Students will demonstrate skills for computer technology, including Internet, network and advanced file operations. Skills will include organizing, managing, and presenting data using office productivity software. Students will also identify security and integrity threats and identify unethical actions within their social or professional environments.

    Many programs have required courses that fulfill the computer technology requirement. However, some programs give students the choice to select their preference. Students should check their program of study prior to selecting any classes, and are encouraged to work with HFC's Academic Advisors or Counselors to create an educational plan.

    Science and Math Degree Requirements

    HFC requires students pursuing an Associate in Science (AS) degree to complete at least 24 Science and Mathematics credits, including at least two laboratory science courses from the following subjects:

  • Astronomy (ASTR); Atmospheric Studies (ATMS); Biology (BIO); Chemistry (CHEM); Geology (GEOL), Geospatial Technologies (GIS); Mathematics (MATH); Physical Science (PSCI); Physics (PHYS); Science (SCI)
  • Wellness Degree Requirements

    In addition to General Education, HFC requires students pursuing an Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in General Studies (AGS) degree to complete at least one wellness course. The courses, given below, are designed to produce graduates that meet the following outcome:

    Students will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to establish a positive pattern of life-long wellness choices.
